TONY O'CONNELL & CYRIL O'DONOGHUE

A concert dedicated to the "pure drop": lively reels and jigs, great old songs for a night of unique music.

Cyril O'Donoghue, (vocals, bouzouki, and guitar) from Co Clare comes from a musical family with strong ties to the East Clare tradition via his father Paddy. He has recorded with many musicians including Tola Custy, Michael Queally, The Mulcahy family and Fisherstreet. Cyril played in Doolin in West Clare for years and has toured Europe, THe U S and both the Middle East and Far East with various ensembles. He also recorded a solo album, 'Nothing But a Child', in 2003. Since 1992 Cyril tours every year with the Birkin Tree.

Tony O'Connell, Tony originally comes from the town of Glin in West Limerick. He began playing music at an early age and proceeded to win all-Ireland titles both under age and senior by the age of 18. In the past few years he has toured Asia, America and Europe with various shows and groups. Currently Tony is living in Limerick city where he gigs on a regular basis and teaches concertina at the IWMC in the University of Limerick.
